TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency) – European swordsmen are in the spotlight as fencers of Spain, France, Portugal, and German starred in the world event here Friday.

Fighting in the hall of Azadi Sports Complex, 10km west of Tehran, Garcia Delgado of Spain and the Belgian Serdik tied at No. 3 in foil competitions.

Iranian fencers, Hadi Sadeqzadeh and Amir Shabakehsaz, finished 15th and 17th respectively.

Germany’s Lantz and Gomez from Portugal meet in foil final.

In saber class, Spain and France jointly finished third and their teammates, the Spanish swordsman Fernando and French fencer Julian, squeezed into final.

Hadi Mohammadzadeh, Reza Khaleqi, Hamidreza Taherkhani, Hamed Khaleqi, Soheil Khavand, Ehsan Mohammadzadeh, Mohsen Dehravieh, and Jamal Sadeqzadeh of Iran ranked 13th, 18th, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 26th, 29th, and 31st respectively.
